Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support within a school setting in Des Plaines, IL. This role involves delivering both Regular and Extended School Year (ESY) services to students requiring sign language interpretation and hearing itinerant support.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide full-day Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) services during the regular school year, totaling 330 minutes per day. Deliver Hearing Itinerant (HI) services, including 100 minutes per week of direct support and 180 minutes per month of consultative services. Facilitate ESY services between June 15, 2026, and July 24, 2026, Monday through Friday. During ESY, provide 1100 minutes per week of Interpreter services and Hearing Itinerant services consisting of 100 minutes per week direct support and 75 minutes per month consultation. Collaborate with educators, students, and families to ensure effective communication access. Maintain thorough documentation of services rendered and participate in related meetings or planning sessions as required.

Desired Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in educational environments. Familiarity with both interpreting and hearing itinerant service delivery models. Knowledge of educational protocols and the ability to adapt to varying student needs. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
