Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in specialized educational settings near Grayslake, IL. Two assignments are available, each supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing and closely collaborating with educational teams to foster an inclusive environment. Open Positions High School (9th-12th grade), serving a caseload of 12 students, with interpreting group sizes between 1-3 per class.
Schedule:
8:00am-3:30pm, 35 hours/week, August 10, 2026-May 20, 2027. Elementary-Middle School (Kindergarten-8th grade), working with 30 students, group sizes between 1-5 per class.
Schedule:
8:15am-3:45pm, 35 hours/week, August 17, 2026-May 28, 2027. Key Qualifications Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter. Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (screenshot required with application—no exceptions). Previous experience working in a school setting preferred. Strong understanding of the educational needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Ability to adapt to various interpreting group sizes and classroom dynamics. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Primary Responsibilities Interpret classroom instruction and communication for students and staff. Support students' participation in both academic and extracurricular activities. Collaborate with educators and special education staff to ensure equal access to curriculum. Maintain confidential student records and adherence to ethical standards. Participate in staff training on institute days as scheduled. Serve only in onsite settings throughout the contract.
