Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a vital role supporting students in a vibrant school setting near Grayslake, IL! As a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 26'-27' academic year, you will make a meaningful impact on the educational experience of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This full-time, contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with staff and students, ensuring effective communication and fostering an inclusive environment.
Key Qualifications:
EIPA Score of 3.5 or higher required Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within an educational setting Strong understanding of Deaf culture and advocacy for student needs Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards Flexible, positive attitude and strong communication skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff using American Sign Language (ASL) Interpret classroom lessons, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and individual sessions as assigned Support full participation of students in all aspects of school life Collaborate with educational professionals to adapt materials or approaches as needed Maintain accurate and professional records as required by school policies Engage actively in team meetings and professional development, contributing insights on accessibility Advantages of this
