Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students, staff, and faculty in an educational setting. This role plays a crucial part in fostering accessible communication and inclusion throughout the school community. Candidates will initially meet with the team on an upcoming Tuesday to discuss assignment specifics and get acquainted with school expectations. Your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) will be vital to enhancing classroom experiences, facilitating communication at meetings, and providing interpretive services across various school activities. Adaptability and strong interpersonal skills are essential to succeed in this environment, as each day brings new interactions and opportunities to make a positive impact.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools strongly preferred Knowledge of educational terminology and procedures Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards National certification or state licensure preferred, where applicable Strong organizational and communication abilities Adaptable and able to work well with students of varying ages and needsKey Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa in classroom settings Facilitate communication during meetings, events, or assemblies Support students' understanding of curriculum and school materials Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families Assist with any written translation as needed Prepare for individualized assignments based on students' needs discussed during scheduled meetingsBenefits and Perks:
