Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting student success as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter within a school-based setting conveniently located near Indianapolis, IN. This contract position is designed for a motivated SLI eager to make a meaningful difference for one student during the 26-27 academic year. This opportunity offers a stable weekly schedule, providing 37.5 hours over the course of the school week. As a key communication bridge, you'll facilitate full participation in educational activities and daily interactions, ensuring access and inclusion for your assigned student.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid certification and credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience working with students in a school or educational environment preferred Ability to foster a supportive, communicative partnership with students and staff Commitment to confidentiality and professional standards
Responsibilities:
Provide direct interpreting services for one student in a variety of classroom and school settings Accurately facilitate communication between the student, teachers, peers, and other school personnel Adapt interpreting style to suit the learning needs and environment Collaborate with educational staff to ensure accessibility and promote student engagement Assist with preparation of materials or resources, as needed, to support effective communication Maintain documentation and contribute to team meetings regarding student progress This is a fantastic contract position for those passionate about championing student access and inclusion.
