Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students in a school setting located in Terre Haute, IN. This contract position is set for the 2025-2026 academic year, starting as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the school year.
Responsibilities:
Provide clear and effective sign language interpretation services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classroom and extracurricular settings Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff Assist in creating an inclusive learning environment by supporting students' access to educational content Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations are met
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in educational environments preferred Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt interpretation to different settings Familiarity with Deaf culture and educational best practices Ability to work collaboratively within a school team
