Freelance Spanish Interpreter

We are currently seeking independent contractors to provide accurate, word-for-word interpretation in a patient-doctor setting. Interpreters must relay communication directly, without using phrases such as "he said" or "she said." Strong knowledge of medical terminology is required, and the use of dictionaries, Google Translate, or electronic translation devices is not permitted. Please note that all assignments are conducted in person. Please note the following details about this position:

Work Availability:

There are no guaranteed work hours or set weekly assignments; jobs are offered on an as-needed basis. We will contact you with assignment offers, and you can choose to accept or decline based on your availability.

Benefits:

We do not provide medical/dental benefits or paid time off (PTO) for this position.

Work Hours:

The assignments primarily involve workers' compensation-related cases/appointments, typically scheduled from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 5 pm. If you do not have availability during these days and hours, this position may not be suitable for you.

Mileage Reimbursement:

Initially, we do not reimburse for mileage, as most assignments will be local, within a 20-mile radius of your home address. However, if we offer an assignment that requires travel exceeding 20 miles one way from your home, we can approve mileage reimbursement at a rate of $0.72 per mile round trip. Additionally, we can reimburse parking and toll fees (if any) upon submission of paid receipts.

Payment:

Invoices are paid 30 days from the date of your invoice, either by mailed check to the address provided on your W9 form or via direct deposit, based on your preference. Please be aware that onsite interpreting assignments have a 24-hour business hour cancellation policy.

Requirement:

To proceed, you must obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN) issued by the IRS, which is available free of charge on the IRS website at https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/employer-id-numbers. When applying, select "sole proprietor" for banking purposes. We cannot accept Social Security Numbers (SSNs) on W9 forms for independent contractors.
