7:45 AM•3:45 PM We are seeking a Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time school-based position in the Basehor, KS area . This role will support a 4th grade student who is a new ASL learner , helping provide access to classroom instruction, school activities, and communication throughout the school day. This is a great opportunity for an interpreter who is patient, supportive, and comfortable working with an elementary student who is still building ASL skills.
Requirements:
Candidates must be licensed with the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing .
Key Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpreting services for a 4th grade student during the school day. Support the student's access to classroom instruction, peer interactions, and school activities. Adapt communication support based on the student's current ASL skill level. Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and related service providers. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and consistency in the school environment. Help promote student independence, communication growth, and classroom participation.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is patient, reliable, and confident supporting a young student who is new to ASL. They should be able to interpret clearly while also adjusting to the student's learning pace and helping them feel supported in the classroom.
