Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Take on a rewarding role assisting students as an ASL Signing Paraprofessional for the remainder of the school year and summer session. This full-time opportunity offers a supportive environment for those experienced in sign language interpreting who are ready to make a meaningful difference. Primary responsibilities include supporting classroom instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing sign language interpretation and facilitating effective communication between students, peers, and staff. Working closely with educators, you will ensure students' educational needs are met and encourage a positive learning atmosphere for all.
Key qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in a school or educational setting preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to support students' learning and independence
- Flexibility to work full days, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
- Commitment to serving through the end of the school year and summer Core responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for classroom lessons, discussions, and activities
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and classmates
- Support students' understanding of academic content and instructions
- Collaborate with staff to create an inclusive, accessible learning experience
- Assist with student engagement and participation throughout the day What you can expect:
- Consistent full-time hours (7.5 hours/day, 8:00am-3:30pm)
