Sep 1, 2026 Job Description The Bilingual Community Relations Facilitator is a full-time salaried position whose function is to provide a vital communication link between the school system and the non-English speaking parents of students attending the Brockton Public Schools. Communication occurs in person at meetings and events, through telephone and SMS systems, and in writing. Bilingual Community Relations Facilitators are scheduled in buildings, but also are on call to schools and parents across the district.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate parent/school communications:
- Interpret for district-wide and school events to provide equitable access to non-English speaking families (may include evening and weekend hours).
- Interpret for parents and students during disciplinary hearings and other such similar circumstances.
- Aid the schools and the Student Registration and Parent Information Center (SRPIC) with home-school communications.
- Collaborate with the Office of Bilingual/ESL Services on all issues related to parents, students, and communities.
- Coordinate parent activities, including parent trainings, in collaboration with the Bilingual/ESL Services Department.
- Organize parent meetings whenever necessary to inform parents of issues that are pertinent and could impact the education of English language learners.
- Assist in the administration of native language assessments.
- Assist with home assessments.
- Perform such other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director of Bilingual/ESL Services.

- Proficient in Haitian and English
- Strong interpretation and translation skills
- able to conduct simultaneous interpretation and translate written documents (educational, legal, parent notices, etc.).
- Possess, value and be responsive to the cultural, racial, ethnic differences of families and individuals being served.
- Strong connections with the communities and organizations in Brockton.
- Maintain an atmosphere of professionalism, confidentiality and consistently reinforces parental involvement.
- Familiar with the laws and regulations that govern the education of students whose first language is not English.
- Strong organizational skills, some computer skills helpful and comfort in communicating with diverse populations, school administrators and staff, and community agencies.
