Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by providing essential communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school environment near Saint Paul, MN. This contract position offers a unique chance to work directly with students, educators, and staff, ensuring equal access to education for all.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and the ability to interpret complex conversations clearly and accurately. Completion of an accredited Interpreter Training Program or equivalent experience. Ability to work with students across a range of grade levels, adapting communication to various age groups and learning stages. Strong listening skills and cultural sensitivity. Professionalism, reliability, and discretion in handling confidential information.
Primary Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) during classroom instruction, assemblies, parent meetings, and other school-related events. Collaborate with educators and special education staff to support students' learning and engagement. Foster a supportive, inclusive environment that respects diverse communication styles. Prepare for interpreting assignments by reviewing relevant materials and vocabulary. Serve as a communication bridge between students, teachers, and families, promoting understanding and participation.
