Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a pivotal support role where your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter can transform communication within educational environments. Based in the Jackson, MS area, this contract opportunity is well-suited for professionals who thrive on making a difference in schools and are seeking flexibility in their schedules. With anticipated hours ranging between 10-15 per week on an intermittent basis, this position offers engagement across multiple settings within the district, allowing you to apply your skills to a variety of situations and student needs.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with documented training or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter Experience interpreting in school or educational settings preferred Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to facilitate clear interactions between students, staff, and other stakeholders Adaptability and reliability, with the ability to respond flexibly to a schedule that may vary week to weekKey Responsibilities:
Provide accurate, real-time sign language interpretation for students, educators, and families across the district Support inclusive educational experiences by bridging communication gaps in classrooms, meetings, and extracurricular activities Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, adhering to code of ethics for interpreters Collaborate with teaching staff and special education teams to ensure student needs are addressed promptly and effectively This role is ideal for professionals seeking flexibility and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully without a traditional full-time commitment.
