Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make an impact assisting students by bringing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a dynamic educational environment near Madison, MS. This contract-based, intermittent position offers the unique opportunity to support a variety of needs across the district, likely working 10-15 hours per week. Your skills in sign language interpretation will play a vital role in breaking down communication barriers and ensuring an inclusive, accessible learning experience for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Strong experience interpreting in educational or school settings Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and students Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and flexibility Familiarity with IEPs and educational accommodations is preferredKey Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for students who use ASL Facilitate clear two-way communication between students, educators, and peers Provide interpreting support for school events, meetings, and activities as needed Adapt to a variety of educational settings within the district according to weekly assignments Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpretationBenefits and Perks:
