Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic educational environment as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter and make a lasting impact supporting students and educators. This contract opportunity offers intermittent assignments across a school district, with a workload averaging 10-15 hours per week. If you thrive on flexibility and are passionate about facilitating communication and inclusion for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, this could be a great fit.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in educational or school settings preferred Familiarity with working with students of varied ages and backgrounds Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with educational staff Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification or relevant state credentials preferred Adaptability to handle changing assignments and varied student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpreting services for students during classroom activities, meetings, and school events Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and peers Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions Adjust to diverse learning environments and accommodate distinct communication styles Collaborate with staff and families to support each student's educational access Participate in team meetings as needed, contributing valuable perspective on student progress Benefits of this
