Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing vital Sign Language Interpreter services in a dynamic school district environment. In this flexible position, you will have the chance to make a real difference for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, supporting their access to education and communication throughout their school experience. With approximately 10-15 hours of work per week across multiple school sites, this role is well-suited to professionals seeking part-time, intermittent assignments while making a meaningful impact. What we're looking for: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong foundation in interpreting educational content Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings (preferred) Familiarity with instructional techniques applicable to K-12 students Flexibility and adaptability to work in multiple locations across the district as needed Valid interpreter certification or relevant credentials (state or national preferred) High standards of professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality Strong communication skills with both students and staff Key responsibilities: Provide clear and accurate interpreting services between spoken English and American Sign Language for students and staff Support student participation in classroom activities, assemblies, extracurricular programs, and related educational settings Collaborate with teachers and specialists to facilitate seamless communication Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs across various grade levels Support a positive and inclusive learning environment Accurately follow schedules and complete required documentation for assignment hours worked Imagine shaping educational success for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, all while enjoying the autonomy of contract work and the consistency of steady part-time hours.
