Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Travel A K-12 Sign Language Interpreter position is available for the 2026-2027 school year in Albemarle, NC, supporting one elementary student within a school setting. This role requires an active North Carolina Sign Language Interpreter license, an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, and proficiency with ECATS documentation systems. The position is full-time, scheduled for 37.5 hours per week from August 4, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with interviews conducted via Zoom.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide on-site sign language interpreting services tailored to the student's educational needs. Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and support staff. Utilize ECATS to document and report interpreting services as required by the school. Comply with all NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) standards for Sign Language Interpreters. Collaborate with educational teams to support the student's academic progress and inclusion.Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Active North Carolina Sign Language Interpreter license (attach proof of active licensure). Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or higher. Experience working within school environments, preferably in K-12 settings. Strong familiarity with ECATS and educational documentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support student engagement.Location:
This role is based at a middle school in Albemarle, North Carolina, with travel to the assigned elementary student's school as needed.Benefits:
