Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A full-time Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is available in Fayetteville, NC, serving the local school district for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position runs from August 10, 2026, to May 27, 2027, with a weekly schedule of 37.5 hours (7.5 hours per day) and a caseload of 1.1. The role requires an onsite presence to support students effectively throughout the academic calendar.
Key Qualifications:
Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in the state of North Carolina is mandatory. Experience working in educational settings, preferably within school districts. Strong communication skills, both interpreting and collaborating with educators, students, and families. Ability to manage a student caseload while maintaining professional standards and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation services for students in classroom and school-related activities. Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and teachers, staff, and peers. Collaborate with special education teams to support individualized education plans (IEPs) and learning goals. Maintain required documentation and participate in meetings as necessary to support student success.
Location:
This position is fully onsite in Fayetteville, North Carolina, requiring daily attendance to meet the needs of students and staff.
