Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Director of Clinical Services. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Position Responsibilities Essential Functions:
Provide language interpreting services and translation of information to Spanish-speaking clients both verbally and in written form; serve as a conduit for communications between the agency and the client; accompany staff on home visits as needed to provide interpreting services. Ensure confidentiality of information collected/accessed Provide information on the NC Health Information Exchange Provide information on services offered by OCHD and explains these services and eligibility requirements for certain programs; must be knowledgeable of all services offered by OCHD Assist with scheduling appointments. Assist with translating written materials for agency and patient use. Escort patients to clinic exam rooms and appointment procedures. Prepares all exam rooms and clinic areas with needed supplies after each client visit, as needed. Compile agency literature packets. Monitor inventory of pamphlets and office supplies. Assist the medical staff with translating when information and appropriate referral services to community resources to patients and their family members is being provided. Assist the agency in gathering information to develop services for the population Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer. Qualifications Knowledge of fluency in the Spanish language, culture, and written translation. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to interpret a wide range of information. Ability to make accurate observations of clients and families and to record and communicate this clearly. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to deal tactfully with others and to secure the cooperation of clients to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relations with other professionals. Ability to establish good working relations with other professionals. Ability to accurately record services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions. Ability to work with others in performing these duties and assist with other routine tasks of a reasonably high level of complexity. Ability to operate a personal computer and standard office productivity software. Education, Experience, and Special Requirements High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in a health care or human services setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred. Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 15 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and frequently standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a very quiet location (e.g. Library, private office) Special Requirements - Must successfully complete state interpreter training levels I, II, and III for Health and Human Services. Salary will be determined by candidate's qualifications, budget, market, and internal equity. Dental Insurance Dental insurance is provided by Delta Dental to full-time employees and covers a percentage of basic to major dental procedures, including orthodontia for children and adults. Vision Insurance Vision insurance is provided by MetLife to full-time employees and covers a variety of materials (contacts and glasses frames/lenses) and an annual eye exam. North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the retirement system and must contribute 6% of their gross salary each pay period. Once eligibility requirements are met, employees will be able to receive monthly payments for life based on their salary, age, and years of service credit. NC401k The County contributes 1% of employees' gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee's deferral amount. In addition, the County matches employee deferrals up to an additional 4%. Vacation Leave Regular full-time employees earn 13.5 days of vacation leave per year. With each 5-year increment of employment, vacation accrual increases. Sick Leave Regular full-time employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year. Paid Holidays County employees receive paid holidays annually. The Board of County Commissioners approves and may adjust the schedule as deemed necessary. ComPsych Mental Health Services The County provides Mental Health and Life Services through ComPsych to help employees and their families with personal, family and job-related problems such as counseling, crisis support, work-life resources, legal and financial consultations, and organizational support tools.
