Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type All Job Types Make a meaningful impact by providing essential support to an elementary student as a dedicated onsite Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time opportunity near Winston-Salem, NC, offers 40 hours per week in a dynamic educational environment where your skills can truly make a difference. You'll play a vital role in facilitating communication and fostering a positive learning experience for a young learner in need of individualized support.
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum EIPA score of 3.0 or higher—required for consideration Experience in educational settings, preferably in elementary schools Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting capability Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing needs throughout the school day
Role Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 onsite interpreting services for an elementary student during classroom instruction and activities Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, and school staff Support the social and academic integration of the student within the school community Adhere to ethical and professional standards governing educational interpreting Collaborate closely with teachers, special education teams, and families to promote student success Monitor classroom dynamics and proactively address potential barriers to communication Take advantage of a rewarding and stable schedule while becoming an integral part of a compassionate school environment.
