Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Bring your sign language expertise to an engaging elementary school environment! Work directly with students as a dedicated interpreter, facilitating access to education and communication. This contract opportunity runs from August 2026 through May 2027 within a supportive onsite setting. Enjoy consistent hours—either full days or afternoons—helping young learners thrive every day.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in elementary/educational settings Eligible for a state license; provisional licenses considered with an EIPA below 4.0 Strong communication skills and adaptability Committed to working onsite (no remote options) Reliable and punctual for 7:45am-3:15pm shifts, with flexibility if preferring 11:00am-3:15pm afternoons
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate communication between students who are Deaf or hard of hearing and staff Interpret classroom instruction, group activities, assemblies, and interactions with peers Support student participation across academic and extracurricular settings Collaborate with teachers and educational specialists to ensure inclusion and equity Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times Assist with other student needs as directed
