Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting student success as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This contract position offers a chance to work on-site, closely partnering with a 12th-grade student who requires both interpreting and broader support throughout their day. Your advanced sign language skills will empower students to engage confidently with their peers and curriculum, while your compassionate approach will help address additional needs beyond interpretation.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter preferred Experience working within PreK-12 school settings, especially in high school Ability to build rapport with students and collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff Understanding of or willingness to learn about individualized student needs beyond communication Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices Adaptability, patience, and a student-focused mindset
Core Responsibilities:
Provide accurate, on-site sign language interpreting services to a 12th-grade student throughout the school day Support the student's access to classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities Assist team members in planning strategies to address the student's broader academic, social, and functional needs Work in coordination with educators and service providers to facilitate inclusion and participation Monitor and document student progress, adapting support as necessary Uphold a supportive and inclusive learning environment As a valued member of the educational community, you'll help shape a meaningful and accessible learning experience for a student preparing for graduation and beyond.
