Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a pivotal role supporting student success as an on-site Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 26-27 school year. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in the life of a 12th-grade student who communicates primarily through sign language and presents additional support needs. By facilitating communication and ensuring equal access to education, you'll help create an inclusive learning environment and contribute to the student's growth and achievement.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience interpreting in educational settings Familiarity with supporting high school students, especially those preparing for graduation Sensitivity to diverse student needs and the ability to adapt to varying communication styles Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, staff, and other specialists Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent credentials preferred
Responsibilities:
Provide real-time sign language interpretation for classroom instruction, school activities, and individual meetings Support the student's access to curriculum and facilitate communication with peers and staff Adapt interpreting approach to address the student's unique needs beyond traditional interpretation Maintain accurate records of services provided and collaborate in IEP or team meetings as required Help foster a positive, supportive environment that empowers the student academically and socially
