Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in education by bringing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a school community near Washoe Valley, NV. This full-time contract opportunity involves supporting students primarily in elementary settings, with occasional assignments at nearby middle and high schools. As an itinerant interpreter, you will play a crucial role in helping 1-2 students access classroom learning and participate fully in school life.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
National Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter required EIP score of 3.5 or higher Experience working within educational settings, preferably K-12 Ability to adapt to various age groups and learning environments Strong communication and collaboration skills Must be able to complete required fingerprinting and pass a drug screen Open to "prescreen" interviews, with flexible scheduling between 9-11am and 2-3pm
EST Main Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality sign language interpretation for students in classroom and school activities Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and parents to facilitate effective communication Travel between assigned schools as needed (minimal itinerant work) Uphold confidentiality and professional standards Adjust interpreting style and language level to meet individual student needs Assist in fostering an inclusive learning environment This position runs from August 10, 2026, through June 3, 2027, with a 32-hour workweek ensuring meaningful work/life balance.
