Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services to support educational settings in Scranton, PA. This contract position focuses on providing effective communication access for students and staff through remote interpreting, ensuring seamless interaction during virtual learning and telehealth sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate accurate and clear sign language interpretation during telehealth appointments and virtual classrooms. Work collaboratively with educators, healthcare providers, and families to support communication needs. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards related to interpreting in educational and telehealth environments. Adapt interpretation techniques to suit diverse educational and medical contexts. Complete necessary documentation and reporting as required by educational and healthcare protocols.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with formal interpreter training. Experience in telehealth or remote interpreting preferred. Previous work in educational settings is advantageous. Strong understanding of confidentiality and HIPAA regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage scheduling flexibility for contract assignments.
