Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within an educational setting. This role supports effective communication access for students and staff who use sign language, ensuring inclusivity and compliance with accessibility standards in schools.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing accurate, clear, and professional sign language interpreting during telehealth sessions and other educational interactions. Facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, educators, therapists, and medical professionals. Adhering to confidentiality and ethical guidelines throughout all interpreting assignments. Collaborating virtually with educational and healthcare teams to support student needs. Maintaining current knowledge of sign language interpreting practices and telehealth technology.
Desired qualifications:
Proven experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably in educational or telehealth environments. Certification by a recognized sign language interpreting authority. Strong familiarity with telehealth platforms and virtual communication tools. Excellent interpersonal skills, detail-oriented with the ability to follow strict confidentiality protocols. Flexibility to manage contract assignments and adapt to scheduling needs.
