Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational environment for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This contract position offers the chance to positively impact students' lives in multiple school settings while collaborating with dedicated education professionals. This role involves working 37.5 hours per week from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027, ensuring accessible communication and inclusivity in diverse classrooms. You'll provide expertise across several locations, including Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head Island, contributing to a rich educational experience for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 State or national certification as a Sign Language Interpreter Experience working in K-12 educational settings preferred Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the educational needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and discussions between students, teachers, and staff Facilitate effective communication in a variety of educational situations, meetings, and events Support students' understanding and participation in academic and extracurricular activities Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards Adapt interpretation techniques to fit student needs and curriculum requirements Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed Take advantage of this opportunity to utilize your expertise in sign language interpretation in a supportive and dynamic school setting.
