Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to support students and educational teams in vibrant school environments for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract opportunity offers consistent hours across several well-established locations, fostering communication accessibility and inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. In this role, you will work a full 37.5-hour week within a collaborative educational setting, interpreting classroom instruction, activities, and school-based events. You'll make a direct impact by facilitating understanding between students, staff, and peers while upholding confidentiality and professionalism. With multiple school locations, you'll experience diverse learning communities and contribute to positive educational outcomes.
Desired Qualifications:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English At least a 3.5 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a K-12 school environment preferred Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and the ability to build relationships with students and staff Professional certification or eligibility to work as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate and culturally competent interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various academic and extracurricular settings Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education teams, and other support staff to ensure accessibility of curriculum and school communications Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with district policies Assist in the planning and coordination of support services as needed This assignment allows you to contribute your skills in a supportive, team-oriented atmosphere, working the full academic year within multiple vibrant communities.
