Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to an impactful opportunity working directly with high school students on a 1:1 basis. Two full-time contract positions are available in a school environment near College Station, offering 37.5 hours per week. If you're passionate about educational access and skilled in sign language interpretation, this could be your next rewarding career move.
Required Skills and Experience:
Hold a current Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher Previous experience in educational settings, particularly with high school students, preferred Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other forms of communication necessary for deaf and hard-of-hearing students Ability to interpret effectively and accurately in classroom and school-related settings Strong collaboration skills for working alongside teachers, students, and support staff Professionalism, reliability, and commitment to maintaining confidentialityKey Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a high school student throughout the school day, including academic classes and extracurricular activities Maintain open communication with the student's educational team to support learning goals Adapt interpretation style as needed for specific student needs and class content Assist in fostering an inclusive school environment by supporting language access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students Observe ethical standards and adhere to all school policies and procedures If you are drawn to roles where your skills directly impact student achievement and participation, and you possess the required EIPA score, this is an exceptional opening.
