Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a full-time contract opportunity, offering 37.5 hours per week, for skilled Sign Language Interpreters passionate about making a difference in educational settings. Located near Williamsburg, VA, this position centers on providing dedicated 1:1 interpreting support to students who rely on your expertise to access their curriculum and thrive in the classroom.
Desired Qualifications:
Current Sign Language Interpreter credentials Minimum score of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational terminology Strong commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and professional interpreter standards Positive attitude and ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, accurate 1:1 interpreting between students and educational staff in classroom and school-related settings Adapt to the dynamic classroom environment, ensuring communication access for student's unique needs Facilitate understanding, participation, and engagement for students by interpreting lessons, instructions, discussions, and social interactions Maintain meticulous records in line with school policies and best practices Participate in meetings and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning as required Enjoy the benefits of consistent full-time hours in a rewarding school-based environment where your skills can create meaningful impact.
