Educational Interpreter - Gig Harbor, WA

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Qualifications you'll bring: Completion of an Interpreter Training Program Valid RID certification and/or an EIPA assessment score of 4.0 or above (required per Washington State law, effective 2023) Fingerprint clearance as well as successful WSP and FBI background/sexual misconduct checks Valid Washington State Driver's License or proven mobility Experience in school environments is preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills Key responsibilities: Provide real-time sign language interpretation in elementary classroom settings, facilitating clear communication between students, staff, and peers Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs, academic content, and extracurricular activities Support student participation throughout the school day: M, T, Th, F from 9:00am-3:30pm, and W from 10:00am-3:30pm Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and family members to promote student engagement and success Potential to work additional hours supporting extracurricular events as needed You'll be part of a dedicated and supportive team working only student in-person hours, enabling an ideal work-life balance.
