Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Key Qualifications & Experience:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in school settings Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds Knowledge of educational vocabulary and K-12 learning environments Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state/national credentials preferred) Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff through accurate and confidential interpretation of spoken and signed language Interpret classroom instruction, group discussions, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities Support students' social interactions and participation in all aspects of school life Collaborate with educators and service teams to adapt communication strategies for individual student needs Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and ethics as an interpreter within the school community
