Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your passion for sign language and education to an engaging contract opportunity supporting a Kindergarten classroom near Milwaukee, WI. In this foundational setting, you'll provide SLI (Sign Language Interpreter) support to young students beginning their journey with ASL. This half-day position is scheduled every school day throughout the 26-27 academic year, with potential to extend beyond.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in educational or classroom settings preferred Ability to support students new to sign language—no advanced or complex signs needed Strong communication and collaboration skills Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter, as required by state guidelines
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate communication between Kindergarten students and teachers using basic ASL Help students develop confidence and foundational skills in sign language Collaborate with educators to ensure a supportive, inclusive environment Interpret classroom instructions, activities, and interactions Serve as an approachable resource for students and staff as they navigate early ASL learning
