The interpreter will facilitate effective communication among Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing employees and hearing students, colleagues, parents as needed. This position will provide interpretive services in a variety of setting throughout the Milwaukee Public Schools System. The position may require travel between district buildings and/or schools based on scheduled interpreting needs. Work assignments and schedules may change based on employee support needs. - Hearing Demonstrate Fluency in ASL and spoken English language skills Associate or ;Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpretation or Relevant field BEI or RID Certification is required Thorough knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RI Code of Professional Conduct Valid Wisconsin DPI Educational Interpreter License #O020
- or the ability to obtain the license within 60 days of hire Preferred Qualifications Experience interpreting in an educational or school district setting preferred but not required Physical and Work Environmental Requirements Ability to trvel independently between district shools and locations in the city of Milwaukee as needed Ability to perform interpreting services for extended periods during meetings and events ; Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule The salary range for the Interpreter-Adults (2026-2027) position starts at $39,975.
94 and increases according to a set salary schedule which is based on years' of work comparable work experience. This work schedule for this position is 10-month/187 work days during the school year.
