Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role providing essential support for young learners beginning their journey with American Sign Language. This contract opportunity centers on assisting a Kindergarten classroom where students are being introduced to foundational ASL—no complex signs required. Become a valued partner in their learning, fostering inclusion and communication during these formative years.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), particularly at the foundational level Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter is highly valued Enthusiasm for working with young children and supporting their communication needs Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to adapt to classroom routines and collaborate with educational staff
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction and activities in ASL for Kindergarten students Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers Support students as they develop new language skills and engage in class participation Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Provide daily half-day support throughout the school year from August to June, with the potential for contract renewal
