This role works closely with the Cinematographer (Director of Photography) to design and execute the lighting plan that defines the visual tone and atmosphere of each production. This is a project-based role with the potential for ongoing collaboration across multiple productions. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the Director of Photography to develop and execute lighting design Lead and manage the lighting crew (Best Boy Electric, Set Lighting Technicians) Plan and implement lighting setups for interior and exterior scenes Ensure proper power distribution and safe operation of all lighting equipment Select and modify lighting instruments, rigs, and diffusion to achieve desired effects Adapt lighting setups quickly to accommodate production changes Maintain lighting continuity throughout production Qualifications Proven experience as a Gaffer or in a senior lighting role (portfolio/credits preferred) Strong knowledge of lighting techniques, electrical systems, and grip equipment Ability to interpret lighting diagrams and collaborate on visual storytelling Leadership experience managing lighting teams on set Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Experience in narrative film, television, or commercial production Familiarity with both studio and location lighting setups Experience working with independent or mid-scale productions Knowledge of modern LED lighting systems and control boards Equipment Production lighting equipment will be provided Experience working with a range of professional lighting gear (LED, HMI, tungsten, modifiers) is required Work Environment On-location and studio shoots (indoor and outdoor environments) Flexible scheduling based on production timelines Fast-paced, safety-focused, and collaborative set environment Equal Opportunity Les Maquis Films, LLC is committed to building a diverse and inclusive creative team and encourages applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
