Job Description
Construction + Smart Home / Commercial Technology Systems This is a good role for someone who has construction experience, a technical savvy, and wants more upside than basic trade trajectory. HomeIQ is looking for a hands-on field installer with a strong construction background and enough technical confidence to work around modern AV, network, camera, lighting, and control systems. This is not a desk job, and it is not a pure programming job. We are looking for someone who can work cleanly in finished homes and commercial spaces, think through field conditions, use tools properly, communicate well, and learn the technology side of the trade. The right person may come from finish carpentry, electrical, low voltage, security, access control, AV, cabinet installation, or high-end residential construction. You do not need to know every system we install, but you do need to be sharp, reliable, clean, and willing to learn. What you'll do You'll help install and support systems such as: TVs, displays, speakers, cameras, racks, and network equipment Low voltage wiring, trim-out, mounting, labeling, and testing Smart lighting, shades, control systems, and related hardware Jobsite and client-facing troubleshooting Clean installations in finished homes, offices, schools, and commercial spaces A normal day may include reading a plan, mounting equipment, fishing wire, setting up devices, using a laptop or phone app, working with a GC or electrician, and leaving the space cleaner than you found it. Who this is for You might be a good fit if you: Have 6+ years of hands-on field experience in construction, trades, AV, electrical, low voltage, or similar work Are comfortable with tools, ladders, job sites, and finished spaces Can measure, mount, level, label, and make work look clean Are comfortable using a smartphone, laptop, apps, and basic troubleshooting steps Can communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and other trades Have a clean driving record Can pass a background check and drug screening Want to grow into a more technical, higher-value trade Who this is not for This is probably not the right fit if you need every step spelled out, are rough on finished spaces, dislike technology, do not like customer interaction, or are only looking for basic labor work. Why this role is different This is a field role with a growth path. HomeIQ works on smart home, AV, network, camera, lighting, and control systems. We need someone with real construction sense who can become more technical over time. You do not need to walk in as a senior AV technician. We can teach systems. What we cannot teach easily is care, judgment, clean work, reliability, and pride in the finished product. Compensation Compensation depends on experience. We are open to talking with strong candidates from related trades, even if your background is not a perfect match on paper.
