Metra is the premier manufacturer of after-market car stereo installation kits, the installers' choice. We have been the leader in the aftermarket industry since 1949. Our foundation was built on the design and manufacturing of ABS dash kits for aftermarket radios. Over the years we have expanded into many other industries, like electronic interfaces, home theater, vehicle lighting and safety. We have been providing installation products to installers and distributors for over 75 years with 5 other distribution centers nationally. As we continue to flourish, we are seeking results orientated people to join us in our Florida Location. Technical Illustrator / Documentation Designer Job Summary We are seeking a Technical Illustrator to create clear, accurate, and visually engaging documentation for manufacturing, installation, and product support materials. This role requires the ability to translate engineering concepts, product specifications, and technical data into professional visual communications that can be understood by production teams, installers, and end users. The ideal candidate possesses strong vector illustration skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience developing technical documentation from engineering source material. Responsibilities Create production-ready wire harness schematics and technical diagrams Develop installation guides, instructional graphics, and assembly documentation Produce top-down and perspective-based installation illustrations Create custom vector artwork, icons, and product illustrations Translate engineering specifications, wire reports, and CAD references into clear visual documentation Organize complex information into easy-to-understand layouts Design print and digital documentation for product support and installation Collaborate with engineering and product development teams Maintain consistency across product documentation and visual standards Revise and update technical publications as products evolve Qualifications 3+ years of technical illustration, documentation design, or related experience Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign Strong understanding of vector illustration principles (for print and website presentation) Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation Experience creating installation instructions, schematics, or assembly documentation Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications Experience working with automotive, electronics, manufacturing, or industrial products Familiarity with CAD reference material Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign Understanding of wire harness documentation and connector systems Knowledge of print production and digital publication workflows Key Skills Technical Illustration Vector Drafting Documentation Design Information Design Engineering Visualization Instructional Graphics Schematic Development Visual Communication Adobe Illustrator Wages will be based on experience level.
