$25•35 per hour, based on experience About Vesper Theatre Vesper Theatre, formerly the Windmill Arts Center, is a vibrant performing arts venue in East Point, Georgia. Our space includes a 90-seat Black Box theatre and a flexible White Box studio that support performances, rehearsals, classes, residencies, and community events. We serve artists and audiences across dance, theatre, music, and multidisciplinary performance. As we enter an exciting new chapter, we're looking for a Technical Manager who can help us maintain professional production standards while building systems that will support future growth. Position Overview This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the technical operations of the venue. The Technical Manager will ensure that our performance and rehearsal spaces remain safe, functional, and rental-ready while coordinating technical staffing and supporting ongoing facility improvements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically skilled, and comfortable taking ownership of projects from start to finish. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, following established procedures, maintaining equipment to a high standard, and prioritizing safety in all aspects of their work. Key Responsibilities Maintain the Black Box Theatre and White Box Studio in performance-ready condition Ensure lighting, sound, staging, soft goods, and technical systems are properly maintained and reset following events Create and maintain technical documentation, including venue plots, channel lists, and operating procedures Coordinate technical staffing for rentals, performances, and special events Recruit and maintain a roster of freelance technicians and designers Serve as the primary technical point of contact for renters and resident artists Support infrastructure upgrades and long-term capital improvement projects Assist with budgeting, equipment planning, and technical purchasing decisions Collaborate with venue leadership to improve systems, workflows, and guest experiences Qualifications Experience managing technical operations in a theatre, performing arts venue, or rental facility Proficiency with ETC Eos lighting consoles (Element 2 preferred) Experience with QLab and basic audio systems Knowledge of theatrical electrics, dimming systems, and venue infrastructure Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications Experience working in Black Box or flexible performance spaces Familiarity with LED fixture conversions and venue modernization projects Experience maintaining moving lights and theatrical equipment Experience supervising freelance technicians and production crews Schedule This position offers a flexible schedule based on venue activity, rentals, performances, and facility projects. Some weeks may require only a few hours, while others will be busier. We are seeking someone who is comfortable working within that rhythm and can take ownership of the venue's technical needs without extensive supervision.
