Job Description

Job Summary The Carson Center for The Performing Arts in Paducah Kentucky invites applications for an Events Technical Services Manager. The ideal candidate is an organized, collaborative theatrical production professional with experience in stage management, scenic construction, deck operations, and live event production. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple technical elements while maintaining a safe, efficient, and professional working environment. Reporting to the Director of Operations & Production and the Production Manager, the Technical Services Manager supports the planning and execution of technical production operations for Broadway tours, concerts, rentals, educational programming, and community events throughout The Carson Center. This position serves as a key liaison between artists, touring production staff, Carson Center personnel, and IATSE Local 421, ensuring productions are executed safely, efficiently, and according to established production requirements. This is a part-time, event-based position with an hourly rate of $25-$28 based on experience. Responsibilities Assist the Production Manager in coordination and execution of production and operational activities supporting all events within the facility. Supervise and assist with the setup, operation, and technical requirements for all events, rehearsals and performances within The Carson Center, supporting efficient and timely execution of production requirements. Manage, and coordinate elements for each production or event as well as but not limited to: load-in, and strike, aligned with production schedules and available resources. Assist with rigging any hung elements to safety standards and the installation and focus of lighting/sound/video elements as needed, in accordance with production specifications and safety standards. Assist in the monitoring of the deck and communicating with Local 421 Stage Labors Union. Conduct and maintain inventory of production equipment and inform the Production Manager of supplies that are needed to support production budgeting and resource planning. Maintain and organize storage and performance areas within The Carson Center and report on the maintenance and repair schedule of technical equipment. Meet with various department leads to discuss project implementation.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in stage management or live event production. Working knowledge of theatrical rigging, scenic construction, stage lighting, professional audio, and backstage operations. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and safe theatrical work practices. Ability to read stage plots, lighting plots, and technical drawings. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with artists, touring productions, venue staff, volunteers, and union stagehands. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced live performance environment. Proficiency with common theatrical production equipment and basic computer applications.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and safely operate theatrical equipment. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours based on the event schedule.
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
