Art Designer and Retail Specialist Missoula, MT 59801 $17.50 an hour - Full-time $17.50 an hour - Full-time Art Supply Store / Custom Frame Shop / Gallery Associate Frame of Mind - Missoula, MT Frame of Mind is hiring a dependable, self-motivated team member to join our art supply store, custom framing shop, and gallery team. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative art designer interested in staying and growing with the shop long-term. In this role, you will be responsible for developing compelling visual concepts, managing branding initiatives, and creating engaging digital and print art assets. Your expertise will help shape the visual identity of our brand across various platforms, ensuring a cohesive and captivating customer experience. This position offers an exciting opportunity to blend artistic talent with retail strategy, driving brand recognition and customer engagement through innovative design solutions. This position is for someone who is mature, reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently. We are looking for a self-starter who can learn quickly, stay productive throughout the day, manage responsibilities without constant supervision, and consistently follow through on tasks. This is not an entry-level position. Our team members are expected to take initiative, stay organized, communicate professionally, show consistent punctuality and contribute to the daily operation of the business without needing continual hand-holding or reminders. Position Responsibilities This role works across all areas of our business, including our art supply store, custom framing department, and gallery operations. This is a process-driven environment. We value reliability, attention to detail, and following established workflows.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting customers with art supplies, framing projects, and gallery artwork Opening and closing the store independently Operating our Point of Sale system accurately and responsibly Managing inventory counts, restocking, and organization Maintaining cleanliness and professional presentation of the store Designing custom framing projects with customers Learning and performing archival framing methods Operating framing and woodworking equipment including saws, routers, mat cutters, sanders, and related shop equipment Photographing inventory and uploading products to our website Managing social media posts and contributing to newsletters and outreach Assisting with art classes, gallery openings, public events, and community outreach Off-site artwork installation in homes and businesses Designing and creating store displays Follows established processes and instructions Works independently after training Maintains professional appearance standards Takes initiative within existing priorities Notices unfinished work and keeps the shop organized Values craftsmanship, precision, and consistency Required Qualifications Applicants must meet the following requirements: Minimum 2 years of retail or customer service experience Strong computer literacy and ability to learn software quickly Experience using social media platforms professionally Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently once trained Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality Professional communication skills Ability to multitask and stay productive during slower periods Ability to lift 50 lbs Comfortable working with customers, tools, technology, and physical tasks Availability for weekend, day, and evening shifts Ability to maintain a professional, positive attitude in a fast-paced environment Strong art direction skills with a keen eye for branding consistency across multiple channels. Expertise in graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, Sketch, CorelDRAW, InVision. Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress; understanding of layout design principles for print advertising. Solid understanding of color management techniques, typography best practices, and visual design principles. Excellent presentation skills to communicate ideas effectively to clients or internal teams. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Shopify, Google Business, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, or custom framing is strongly valued. Workplace Expectations We are a small business with a hardworking team environment.
