Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU Athletics Department. 2. This individual performs the role of an internal beat reporter, focusing on telling compelling stories in written, video, social media, graphics, or other innovative formats in collaboration with team members of the external unit. 3. Assist in maintaining the athletics department website. Write and edit various department communication materials, including postseason publications, press releases, game notes, record books and content for the department's website. 4. Work closely with athletics staff and coaches to promote stories of the department through digital and social media platforms. 5. Develop and write, both in news and feature form, press releases about coaches and student-athletes and disseminate this information to the media and to the public via the athletics website and social media platforms to publicize teams. 6. Nominate and promote student-athletes and coaches for awards. 7. Maintain historical records, statistics, and photographs among other important department information. 8. Coordinate student interns and game day staffing as needed. 9. Adhere to all NCAA, Conference, and University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures. 10. Oversee and administer scores table duties, staff, and game day statistics. Supervisory Responsibilities This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to student workers and gameday staff, in order to complete work assignments. Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Demonstrated ability and willingness to live and uphold the University's Christ-centered mission and values. Ability and proficiency in Adobe Design Suite (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite, StatCrew software and Genius Sports. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
A thorough knowledge of:
Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures, and practices. Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects with the ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented with the ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events. Excellent telephone courtesy knowledge and experience with the ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position. Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Knowledge of general accounting principles with the ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality, resolve customer complaints and concerns. Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions. Ability to travel, including domestic/international air travel, and work nights/weekends and holidays. Ability to drive a golf cart on campus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and sit. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. WORK ENVIRONMENT
: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is normally performed in both a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards and outdoor environments with exposure to the outdoor elements. Work environment will occasionally include loud music and fan engagement during University events. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education. Master's degree preferred.
