•About AVARIA Studios AVARIA Studios is a Boston-based creative agency specializing in video production, brand strategy, and content systems. We build at the intersection of culture and commerce — producing documentary-style brand content, social-first campaigns, and high-impact video for clients ranging from local entrepreneurs to fintech creators with hundreds of thousands of followers. We move fast, think strategically, and care deeply about craft. The Role We're looking for a mid-level Videographer / Director of Photography to join our core team full-time. You'll be the primary eye behind our shoots — responsible for translating creative direction into compelling visuals, owning camera and lighting setups, and helping maintain the visual standard that makes AVARIA's work distinct. This is a hands-on, in-the-field role with real ownership over the look and feel of client deliverables. What You'll Do Shoot and light video content across a range of formats: brand films, social content, interviews, documentary-style segments, and event coverage Translate scripts, shot lists, and creative briefs into strong visual execution Operate cameras, lighting, audio, and grip equipment independently or as part of a small crew Collaborate with the Creative Director and Director of Operations on pre-production planning, shot lists, and location scouting Maintain and manage camera/lighting gear, ensuring everything is shoot-ready Help train and direct freelance crew on set when needed Contribute creative input during concepting and storyboarding sessions Manage footage organization and handoff to editors with clear, organized media Help with editing What We're Looking For 3-5+ years of professional videography/DP experience, ideally in branded content, documentary, or commercial work Strong technical command of cameras (Sony or similar cinema/mirrorless systems), lighting setups, and audio capture A portfolio that shows range — interviews, b-roll, narrative, and social-native content Ability to work independently on set and make confident creative calls in the moment Comfortable working in a fast-paced agency environment with multiple clients and shifting priorities Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset — this isn't a solo gig Reliable transportation and availability for on-location shoots around the Boston area
