Part-Time Director for the MIT Shakespeare Ensemble's Fall 2026 theater production

Description:

The MIT Shakespeare Ensemble is seeking a director for its Fall 2026 production. The play to be performed will be selected by the Ensemble in conjunction with the director by the end of June. A stipend of $2400-2600 is available. The timemitment involves directing roughly 17 hours of rehearsal per week (over the course of 5 rehearsal days per week), with more time during tech/production week; by our calculations, thises out to a little over $18 per hour. Auditions will be held the first week of September, and performances will be Nov 13th - Nov 15th and Nov 19th - Nov 21st on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA. The Ensemble is an extra-curricular student theater group that performs works by Shakespeare and other authors. The Ensemble consists of students, staff, and other members of the MITmunity who work together as actors and technical theater members to explore all aspects of theater. Qualifications:

Past experience with directing/participating in Shakespeare productions is preferred. You are also encouraged to if you have prior experience with working in educational theater programs, especially college theater.
