Executive Director, Non-Profit Snow Sports and Recreational Mountain

Whaleback Mountain Executive Director Job Description Whaleback Mountain is a non-profit recreational mountain in New Hampshire's Upper Valley. Our mission is to provide an accessible, community-driven mountain experience that inspires lifelong participation in snow sports and recreation, while serving as a year-round gathering place for the Upper Valley, sustained through the support and investment of its community. The Executive Director is the key organizational leader of Whaleback Mountain. The Executive Director provides leadership to all aspects of the organization including annual growth, financial stability, administration, operations and fundraising. Other key duties include communications, programs and community outreach. The Executive Director is a full-time salaried position that reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Leadership & Management:

• Be the public face of Whaleback Mountain, leading engagement and communication with customers, local businesses, stakeholders, and the community.
• Recruit, coach, develop, and retain Whaleback Mountain's management team.
• Ensure high-quality and safe mountain operations and regular evaluation of operational efficiency.
• Oversee finance and administration systems.
• Establish employment and administrative policies and procedures for the day-to-day operation of Whaleback Mountain.
• Develop Whaleback Mountain's annual operating budget for approval by the Board.
• Operate effectively within the constraints of the budget. Recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
• Actively engage with Whaleback Mountain board members, committees, volunteers, partnering organizations, and funders. Work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement as needed in policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall effectiveness of the organization.
• Serve as an ex-officio member on the Whaleback Mountain Board of Directors.

Fundraising & Communications:

• Lead fundraising activities in support of the organization's mission and strategic goals.
• Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing donors, sponsors, and stakeholders to secure funds to support capital improvement projects.
• Ensure effective communications from web presence and social media engagement to external relations, with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
• Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities and support.

Planning and New Business:

• Advise the Whaleback Mountain Board of Directors on strategic planning and prioritization of program expansion and capital improvements.
• Build partnerships in local and other markets, establishing relationships with potential donors , and political and community leaders.
• Be an external local, regional and national presence that communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model for regional and national replication.

Job Requirements:

1. Experience in organizational management and leadership. 2 . Deep knowledge of the ski industry. 3. Passion for the mission of sustaining Whaleback Mountain. 4 . Strong attention to detail paired with ability to be a strategic visionary.

Pay:

From $77,000.00 per year
