US ABOUT XYZ REALITY XYZ
Reality are the creators of the world's first and only engineering-grade Augmented Reality solution, purpose built for the construction industry. Not only have we created this holographic technology, that sits within The Atom — a smart, site-safe headset/hardhat — but we implement it on projects, utilising the power of AR to ensure that all schemes are completed in line with delivery timescales and budgets. XYZ has grown to over 100 staff across the UK, US & Europe and is working with Mission Critical organisations & construction companies to successfully deliver major projects.
THE ROLE XYZ
Reality is hiring three Commercial Leads — across the US and Europe — to sit at the intersection of construction delivery and data-driven commercial intelligence. This is a role for someone who has spent 10+ years working in the commercial engine of major programmes. You know cost inside out — how it's structured, where it hides, how it moves, and what it means to different stakeholders. You've managed cost on projects or portfolios worth hundreds of millions to billions, and you understand the commercial language spoken at every level — from GC QS teams on site to Investors and Lenders in the boardroom. At XYZ, you won't just track cost. You'll help define the commercial standards that the construction industry should be running on, and work with our Data Scientists to build new commercial insights that drive genuinely best-in-class cost performance. This is a rare opportunity to shape how an industry measures and manages money.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own commercial and cost performance across your assigned projects or portfolio — leading cost control, forecasting, earned value, and commercial reporting to the highest standards of rigour and accuracy. Help define XYZ's Construction Commercial Standards — formalising cost breakdown structures, cost definitions, and reporting frameworks that set a new benchmark for the industry. Partner with Data Scientists to develop new commercial insights — translating raw cost and programme data into actionable intelligence that drives better decision-making and measurable cost performance improvements. Communicate across the full stakeholder stack — presenting commercial performance clearly and credibly to Investors, Lenders, and Funders (Data Centre clients); Developer Commercial teams; and GC Commercial and QS teams. Identify commercial risks and opportunities proactively — maintaining forecast accuracy, flagging variance early, and supporting project leadership in understanding the commercial implications of delivery decisions. Contribute to the evolution of XYZ's commercial product offering — bringing deep industry expertise to bear on how the platform captures, structures, and surfaces cost and commercial data for clients.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of commercial or project controls experience on major construction programmes or portfolios, with direct exposure to Data Centre or other mission-critical environments. Proven track record managing commercial performance on projects or portfolios valued at £/$100Ms to Bn scale — across cost control, forecasting, earned value management, and commercial reporting. Ability to communicate commercial insight credibly across the full stakeholder spectrum — from Investors, Lenders, and Funders through to Developer and GC Commercial teams. Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant professional accreditation (RICS, AACE, or equivalent) is desirable.
