Job Description

University of South Dakota is seeking an Assistant Director for the Wellness Center and Natatorium to lead our intramural program, e-sports and routinely incorporate new and rising sports and recreational activities to wellness center patrons. Manage and lead the Wellness Center recreational sports activities (intramural sports, new and rising sports, and esports) associated spaces and equipment. Stay up to date on recent trends in team and individual sports and introduce new opportunities for members regularly. Develop and implement plans to manage risk associated with intramurals, new sports, and esports. Oversee budget allocation of GAF funds to maximize what can be offered within budget. Oversees the scheduling and use of facilities to ensure fair, efficient allocation of space; develops comprehensive intramural, new sports and esports offerings to meet the needs of student, faculty, staff, and community members. Engage in active student development; measure effectiveness of student learning outcomes for participants. Maintain knowledge of best practices and risk management regarding intramural sports, new rising sports, and informal recreation.. Administer software used for intramural signups, pairings, and team creation. Supervision of two graduate assistants and numerous student employees to include: hiring, training, mentoring, scheduling, goal setting, documenting employee performance, employee feedback, etc. Maintain appropriate coverage for team activities, dual, and individual events. Coordinate and prepare field spaces for sport specific maintenance. Monitor possible maintenance issues on other intramural program equipment in relation to sport specific needs. Operate, Manage and Lead the Esports Arena. Develops the scheduling and use of facilities to ensure fair, efficient allocation of space. Utilize risk management to ensure safety of participation. Supervision for graduate assistant and student employees to include hiring, training, mentoring, scheduling, goal setting, documenting employee performance, employee feedback, etc. Maintain appropriate coverage for facility operations and events. Engage in active student development; measure effectiveness of student learning outcomes for staff. Utilize risk management to ensure safety of participation. Advise USD Esports Club (recognized student organization).
