Job Description

Help Young Performers Build Confidence, Creativity & Stage Presence RISE Music & Dance is seeking an engaging, energetic Musical Theatre Teaching Artist to join our growing theatre program for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 season. We're looking for someone who loves working with children and teens and is passionate about helping students develop acting skills, stage presence, storytelling abilities, confidence, and performance technique. This role is ideal for actors, directors, choreographers, teaching artists, and performer-educators who enjoy both classroom instruction and production work. Why This Opportunity Is Different This is more than a weekly teaching assignment. We're intentionally building depth within our theatre leadership team and are looking for an instructor who may eventually take on directing and production leadership opportunities. Qualified instructors may have opportunities to: Direct a musical theatre production Assistant direct a production Choreograph production numbers Support showcases and student performances Teach additional classes as the program grows Participate in summer camps and special events For the right candidate, this role may serve as a pathway toward directing productions during Spring 2027 and beyond.   • RISE Studio Imagine & Play (Ages 5-6) 9:00 AM
  • 10:00 AM Foundation Cabaret (Ages 7-9) 10:00 AM
  • 11:30 AM Emerging Cabaret (Ages 10+) 11:30 AM
  • 1:00 PM Approximate Fall teaching commitment: 4 hours per week Additional opportunities may be available throughout the season.
What You'll Teach Classes focus on helping students develop: Acting and character development Storytelling and creative expression Movement and stage presence Ensemble skills and collaboration Confidence and performance technique Instructors are encouraged to bring their own creativity and teaching style while maintaining a structured, positive, and student-centered classroom environment. Spring 2027 Production Opportunities Qualified instructors may have opportunities to: Direct a musical theatre production Assistant direct a production Choreograph production numbers Participate in rehearsals and production leadership Additional compensated hours are available during active rehearsal and performance periods. Production assignments are based on instructor performance, collaboration, experience, and program needs. Additional Paid Opportunities Instructors may have opportunities throughout the year to earn additional hours through: Directing productions Assistant directing productions Choreographing production numbers Supporting showcases and student performances Rehearsal support Backstage and production leadership roles Summer camp instruction Additional opportunities are based on program needs, instructor strengths, and availability. Qualifications Required Experience teaching, coaching, or leading groups of children Strong background in acting, theatre, dance, choreography, or musical theatre Strong classroom leadership skills Reliable, professional, and positive attitude Preferred Directing experience Choreography experience Teaching artist or theatre education experience Musical theatre performance experience Experience producing or directing youth productions Important Note This is not primarily a voice instruction position. While vocal experience is welcome, we are especially interested in candidates with strengths in: Acting Directing Choreography Dance and movement Performance training Storytelling and character development Compensation $32
