Tech and Media Director Shady Grove United Methodist Church - 3.5 Mechanicsville, VA Job Details Part-time $25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Volunteer management Content creation Attention to detail Organizational skills Video production Full Job Description Overview Shady Grove United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Tech and Media Director to help create engaging and meaningful worship and ministry experiences through audio, video, livestream, and presentation technology. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, organized, and passionate about using technology to support worship and community connection. The position also provides leadership and coordination for volunteers serving in AV and media ministry areas.
Job Purpose:
The Tech and Media Director oversees the planning, operation, maintenance, and reliability of the church's audio/visual and livestream systems in support of worship services and ministry events. This position coordinates AV volunteers, manages technical needs for church programming, and helps ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for both in-person and online participation.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate proficiency in the operation of multimedia and sound equipment. Maintain proficiency with worship presentation software, including ProPresenter. Possess working knowledge of livestreaming, editing, and uploading video and audio content to the internet. Oversee and operate the livestream during Sunday worship services. Recruit, schedule, and support volunteers of varying skill levels. Ensure all AV systems remain current, effective, and aligned with the church's worship and outreach goals. Receive and coordinate AV requests from staff and church members, including scheduling AV volunteer coverage for events. Attend weekly staff meetings (currently Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m.). Organize and maintain AV computers, equipment, and software updates. Produce videos for worship services and church events based on skill level and ministry needs. Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to see projects through to completion.
Time Commitment:
Expected regular weekly time requirements approximately 18 hours per week with up to 25 hours needed for special occasions such as Christmas Eve, Holy week, and Easter. This person would need to be available for Sunday worship (7am-1pm) and weekly staff meetings (currently Tuesdays at 10am). We also will look to this person for additional ministry events such as funerals and weddings as their schedule permits.
