Job Description

KFSN-TV/ABC30
Action News, the ABC Owned Television Station in Central California, is seeking an experienced News Photographer. This position is essential to gathering the high-quality content that feeds our top-rated newscasts. The role is critical to covering stories across our six-county viewing area in Central California. We are looking for a modern content creator who works productively as a team with a reporter or independently. We want someone to join our team who is inherently creative, embraces new technology and has a desire to expand their storytelling techniques on a daily basis. A successful candidate will be highly motivated with a proven track record in the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of daily local news gathering. The ideal candidate thrives under continuous deadlines, approaches challenges with a problemsolving mindset, and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and a proven work ethic.
Responsibilities:
Shoot & edit video for daily newscasts while meeting strict deadlinesSet up, light, and transmit live shotsCommunicate with assignment desk & producersAssist with upkeep of equipmentCreate graphic elements for news stories
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience shooting, editing, and producing high-quality video content in a fast-paced professional or college newsroom environmentProficiency in field cameras, lighting, and non-linear editing Ability to work as a self-starter, often alone, to find, shoot, and report stories with strong news judgmentProficiency in using non-linear editing software Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, especially for breaking newsAbility to carry, lift, and move up to 50+ pounds of equipmentValid license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Small to medium market experience as a News Photographer/EditorKnowledge of live technology, such as Dejero and LiveUProficiency in Adobe Premiere ProExperience creating vertical videos
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
Some college preferredThis position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between IBEW-45 and KFSN-TV. The pay rate for this role in Fresno, California is $43,680 to $62,400 per year. The pay rate actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The role also has potential for additional compensation for overtime and early morning/overnight shifts.
