Description :

Windermere Prep is seeking a passionate and dedicated Head Competitive and Sideline Cheer Coach to oversee and develop both the High School and Middle School cheer programs. The ideal candidate will be a positive role model who fosters school spirit, promotes safety, and builds a culture centered around leadership, teamwork, accountability, and enthusiasm. This individual will be responsible for organizing and conducting practices, choreographing routines, developing athlete fitness and skill progression, and supervising student-athletes during games, competitions, and school events. The cheer program supports athletic events during the fall and winter seasons through sideline cheer and competes in the FHSAA Competitive Cheer Gameday Division during the winter season. Candidates with experience in independent school settings and competitive cheer coaching expertise are preferred. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.

Responsibilities:

Plan and conduct regular practices focused on skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and school spirit. Choreograph and teach cheers, chants, dances, gameday routines, and stunts appropriate for both middle school and high school athletes. Oversee all aspects of the High School and Middle School cheer programs, including sideline and competitive cheer responsibilities. Supervise cheerleaders at practices, games, competitions, and school-related events. Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, effort, leadership, and enthusiasm. Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants while adhering to proper cheerleading safety guidelines and FHSAA regulations. Coordinate competition preparation, music, uniforms, and gameday responsibilities. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school staff, and the athletic department. Coordinate schedules, transportation, uniforms, and program needs with the Athletics Department. Serve as a positive representative of Windermere Prep and role model for student-athletes.

Qualifications:

Prior cheerleading coaching or participation experience required; competitive cheer coaching experience preferred. Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, gameday cheer, safety standards, and FHSAA rules. Ability to build relationships and positively lead middle school and high school student-athletes. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Must be available for practices after school hours and events on evenings and weekends as scheduled.
